Principal’s Message

My name is David O. Lewis, and I am excited to be your Instructional Leader at East Saint John High School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead East Saint John High School with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty-eight years. I have worked with students ranging in age from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of teaching and administrative roles.
I have been a special education and regular education teacher in ELA/Social Studies, a Middle and High School Assistant Principal and Principal for numerous years in the metro New Orleans area. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to East Saint John and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure student academic success and establish productive citizens.
Families, teachers, support staff, community members, and administration play a vital part in helping our students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we can make a positive difference. A strong partnership between home and school fosters greater success for our children.
I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my student-centered approach to support our future leaders. Because of the unique times, the relationship between families and school are vital to the success and safety of our students.
“Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Respectfully,
Mr. David O. Lewis
